Info
Choreographers and dancers from Greece, Poland, Hungary and Romania invite you to a unique discussion about dance not as a performance, but as a way of perceiving and understanding reality. Join the conversation with Joana Leśnierowska [Poland].
Introduction to visual dramaturgy
How is it possible for lighting design, as well as other visual elements, to bring other meanings, to enhance a performance and serve as a dramaturgical device? The Polish choreographer will develop the concept and principles of visual dramaturgy from her own practices, which depart from the belief that visual aspects of performance are neither independent nor artificial.
Joana Leśnierowska is a performer, independent choreographic curator and visual dramaturg. Her practice lies on the border between visual and performance arts, exploring their intersection. In her creations, Joanna exercises possibilities of transmitting and translating the creative strategies and tools of contemporary painting and (post)photography into choreography and performance.
The debate is part of the DanceTalk series, an event dedicated to both general and professional audiences. The event is organized by CNDB and carried out within the framework of the Moving Balkans project, a dynamic contemporary dance platform that collaborates with numerous dance institutions from countries in the region.
Project implemented with the financial support of the Creative Europe Program of the European Union and the Bulgarian National Fund for Culture.
