The next guest of Mădălina Dan in the series of meetings “What (still) moves us”, Andrea Gavriliu is one of the most successful choreographers in Romania. In 2014 she received the special prize of the UNITER senate for theater-dance and in 2017 the UNACOR award of excellence for directing and choreography. In 2019 she was awarded the special prize of the UNITER senate for stage movement.

She collaborated with directors such as Mihai Măniuțiu, Radu Afrim, Andrei Șerban, Vlad Massaci, Alexander Hausvater, Kazuyoshi Kushida and others. In addition to her choreographic and performer activity, she is a choreographer at the “Lucian Blaga” National Theater and a doctoral student and associate professor at the Faculty of Theater and Film at the “Babeș-Bólyai” University of Cluj Napoca.

An opportunity for meeting and dialogue between members of the dance community, it is both an opportunity for the public to get to know the artists better and to discover more about the field of contemporary dance. The meetings focus on dance, movement, performativity and bring to the forefront different ways of approaching choreography and the performing arts, without being limited to these means of expression.

In the discussions moderated by Mădălina Dan, her guests will share the ideas and tools they work with, making the work processes and methodologies transparent and the sources of inspiration known, and then they will dance together.

The meetings are also an opportunity for the public to discover new or old works of the guests, as the project is supported by materials from the CNDB Archive.

The setting is public, but not formal, with an emphasis on the idea of a laboratory meeting.
