The CNDB Media Library is a primary source and resource for documentation, research, and artistic education in the field of contemporary choreography history and theory; it is an open and active space for dialogue on informational and performative diversity, bringing together discursive practices and interdisciplinary events, thereby blurring the boundaries between choreographers, dancers, and theorists from various creative fields.

In the context of the precariousness and fragmentation of available information, the project is part of a broader initiative that aims to create a connected artistic community capable of generating new ideas and artistic productions, and to raise awareness of contemporary performing arts as an artistic form capable of embracing, managing, and valuing its own ideas and histories. The Media Library is a space for the continuous circulation of generative ideas and projects, a laboratory for researching and experimenting with current practices, and a temporary, horizontal installation within the CNDB studio space.

As a documentation resource, the CNDB Media Library comprises a collection of books and periodicals (dance history and theory, critical theory, performance theory, feminist studies, artist books, catalogs of contemporary dance festivals, etc.) and a collection of international dance videos (international productions by choreographers, dancers, and dance companies active in the fields of contemporary performing arts, video art, dance cinema films, etc.).

Access Rules for Users:

1. The categories of users who have access to the media library’s resources are: professionals in the performing arts (choreographers, dancers, critics, etc.), undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral candidates, and faculty members from relevant higher education and pre-university institutions, as well as researchers and specialists in various fields of culture.
2. Access to the media library’s resources is granted upon presentation of a copy of an ID card and completion of a consultation/loan request form ← click here.
3. Users may request a maximum of 3 volumes from the book collection and a maximum of 3 items from the video collection at any given time, either for on-site consultation or for loan for up to 15 days.
4. Users who wish to reproduce a book or publication from the Media Library are required to request this service from the Media Library custodian and pay the applicable fees ← click here.
5. Users are required to maintain quiet, order, and cleanliness within the Media Library.
6. The resources of the Media Library can be consulted in the Media Library Room at 80-81 Mărășești Blvd., which is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
