Open bodies. Intuitive dance / Improvisation

Contemporary dance workshop with Marta Wołowiec
  • Workshop for professionals
  • As part of the Performing Arts Festival News From Polska. Resisting Bodies

Info

Alongside these performances representative of contemporary Polish performing arts, the organizers also propose workshops for dance professionals, exploring the connections between other artistic languages and the moving body, as well as the expressive power of improvisation and intuitive dance.

Open Bodies is a dance workshop addressed to all those who wish to take a break and give themselves a pleasant and beneficial moment through movement. It is an invitation to dance intuitively and freely, full of pleasure, an authentic encounter with oneself and with others. Throughout the workshop, we will expand our kinesthetic curiosity – we will not follow a predetermined choreography, but, through improvisational tasks, we will discover personal and diverse ways of moving. We will rest through movement and at the same time energize ourselves.

An important element of the meeting will be the development of attention to the experiences and sensations that arise in our body. The workshop is based on the personal practice of Marta Wołowiec, a dancer, choreographer and teacher with many years of experience. The meeting will also include elements from the Life Art Process method, created by American artist Anna Halprin. We will combine dance and movement discoveries with intuitive drawing and verbalizing our impressions and experiences.

Open Bodies will be, above all, an opportunity for creative, non-judgmental, curiosity-oriented exploration of self and others.
