“A kiss is an act of trust” is a lecture performance that explores the theme of kissing from a scientific and personal perspective, bringing together perspectives, data, theories and questions about the origin and usefulness of kissing. The artist has opted for the lecture performance or performance lecture format, a sub-genre of performance that balances on the border between art and academia, out of a desire to capture and convey information in the simplest and most direct form. ‘A kiss is an act of trust’ was created following 50 interviews, the process of which involved a combination of objective questioning and state and movement cues to elicit a flow of intuitive and creative responses.
