Info
For the grand final of the REEDANS 2019 residencies, we are happy to introduce Jivko Jeliazkov (BG), the mentor who was invited to guide the creative process of the fourth REEDANS resident, Elena Vertegel (UKR).
Co-founder and art director of the first contemporary dance center in Bulgaria, the Derida Dance Center in Sofia, Jivko Jeliazkov produced over 12 shows since 2001. We invite you to meet the artist and participate in a discussion about: Artistic residencies as an opportunity for active international exchange among artists. Jivko will also present his way of working at Derida Dance Center as an independent structure that works in a country with no state grants for the independent cultural sector. He will present two of the most important and stable projects of the Derida Dance Center – the contemporary dance education and formation program – The PORT Derida, as well as the Derida Dance Center Residency Program, which is considered one of the top five best practice programs by the European Commission.
So, why are international artistic residencies important?
What is the context of contemporary dance practices in Bulgaria?
What are the similarities between the Romanian and the Bulgarian contexts?
What are the learnings and how can we use them?
We invite you to participate in this discussion, at our favorite place in Cluj – RAP space at The Paintbrush Factory.
