Info
“Daughters” is a show about transformation, during which three fictionalized micro-histories, charged with irony and suspense blend together, creating a new identity. Three girls on roller skates alter a pre-established chronology. Their actions are filtered and recomposed in an analogue multimedia universe.
“We are the daughters of a generation, of a community, of a space and of a time in which the reality is told in fragments, in explosions of information. We are cyborgs of a constantly changing world, in a state of constant accumulation and tension, in which the notions of time and space are lost. The present stretches like a rubber band, it stops or flows like a perpetuum mobile.”
The show places the feminine body in an extended context, sometimes real, sometimes imagined, in which the birth of each marks an important moment in space and time. They are the daughters of a confused generation, a resilient community, in which reality is never that it seems.
In “Daughters” there is no present time, just a constant feeling of temporal uncertainty, in a state of constant accumulation and tension. The music is created by Monocube (DE/UA) whose sound universe is a reflection on the contemporary work via analogue instrument The visual composition, taking form in an installation of cathodic tube TVs, is signed by M. Kardinal (DE) and created by methods that deconstruct forms, imagines becoming distorted and blurred in their interaction with the subject and the object.
“In Daughters, my interest lies in exploring the sensations of intimate proximity, in a set-up that can displace and amplify movement. Far from being a pretentious and overly intellectual work, the show has ironic highlights and is developed in a concert-like atmosphere on Monocube’s music. Daughters starts with the slowness of my latest works and ends in an impossible speed. The roller skates create a parallel speed that takes the show into a surreal dark universe. For me, the three dancers are three cyborgs who explore sexuality, power and freedom, making unexpected jumps in time.”
