Miriam Răducanu – Rigor and SenZe at Elvire Popesco Cinema

From Wednesday through Saturday, May 9, the Elvire Popesco Cinema is hosting CINEMA ENTRE NOUS: Focus on Alexandra Gulea.

Alexandra Gulea’s cinematic universe blends experimental film, documentary, performance, and installation, exploring socio-political themes that open up to spiritual dimensions. Her visual style, influenced by painting, prioritizes composition and color over classical narrative, and her atypical narrative structures often create tension with the image and sound. Her films are distinguished by creative freedom and invite reflection and introspection, offering a unique cinematic experience.

You can immerse yourself in Alexandra Gulea’s universe these days with a selection of 10 films screening at Cinema Elvire Popesco and Cinema Eforie. Among them, you’ll also be able to watch the film Miriam Răducanu – Rigor and SenZe, co-produced by CNDB in 2024. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Raluca Paraschiv, Mihaela Michailov, Eduard Gabia, and Andrei Rus.

Produced to mark the centenary of choreographer and dancer Miriam Răducanu, the film brings together for the first time archival documents that trace the artist’s biographical and creative journey, revealing the extraordinary way in which Miriam Răducanu blended dance, music, and poetry.

Producers: National Centre for Dance Bucharest (CNDB) and Romanian Television (TVR), with support from the National Center for Cinematography (CNC) and DACIN SARA.

Film produced as part of the project MIRIAM RĂDUCANU: an exhibition – archive with senZe, co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund and the 9 | BRD – Groupe Société Générale Foundation.
