The workshop proposed by Ștefania Becheanu is a performative research space that combines movement, sound, and improvisation. Starting from her ongoing creation, Rencontrer l’Ours, the workshop explores themes such as fear, the body, rhythm, the hypnotic state, and the relationship with the imaginary bear as a symbolic figure.
Participants will be guided through exercises in bodily presence, sound explorations, and guided improvisations in an open, intuitive, and collective setting based on exploration and listening. The workshop is intended for people with experience in contemporary dance and/or performance.

Biography

Stefania Becheanu is a sound artist, interdisciplinary performer, and composer. Her work is based on a triple approach—sound, visual, and physical—and lies at the intersection of experimental and improvised music, field recording, visual arts, and dialogue with contemporary dance. Her creations take various forms: solo and collective performances, immersive sound and visual installations, projects related to nature, improvised music, publications, sound creation workshops in educational and social contexts, as well as musical composition for film. Her approach explores the decompartmentalization of artistic forms and supports emancipation through art, focusing on a practice of active and empathetic listening. She is the beneficiary of the Césaré Reims CNCM (Grand Est Region) sponsorship and completed a territorial residency at the Maison de la Musique Contemporaine in 2025.
