From the imperative to move online, to the desire to go offline and the pressure to find adaptive mechanisms, the cultural and artistic context of the last two years has become increasingly precarious, underfunded and increasingly more influenced by the mechanisms of financialization. In this sense, the third edition of the Three days laboratory continues to question the way in which cultural dynamics and artistic practices have changed during this period. If in the midst of a pandemic and as a result of isolation and physical distancing we felt the return to the body as a last resort, we question whether this is not another form of anthropocentrism, which places man above the environment he belongs to, thus maintaining a specific set of power relations.

Through the proposed program, the current edition of the Three-Day Laboratory appeals to the need to realize that “all art is political”, in the sense that art presupposes having a critical perspective on society and social realities, creating direct or indirect public discourse and consciously participating in the transformation of power relations in society. This time again, the laboratory focuses on the need to stimulate and develop critical thinking and proposes a deconstruction of the potential captivity of dancers/artists in bodily practices that become self-sufficient by losing sight of the context in which the artist acts and manifests.

Participants in this edition of the Laboratory will take part in daily movement practice sessions coordinated by choreographer Beniamin Boar, will participate at presentations and in discussions in the presence of the guests Horea Avram, Irina Botea Bucan, Cristina Modreanu, Ion Dumitrescu and Florin Flueraș, and will take part in the participatory action Books on the dancefloor, organized by the CNDB Media Library.

The “three-day laboratory” is a long-term program designed to maintain and intensify the dialogue and collective process of reflection, which will support artists in their creative process. The laboratory proposes an extension of the dialogue with the community of performing arts artists through presentations given by several specialists from different disciplines and areas of activity. The first edition of the “Three-Day Laboratory” was launched in early 2021, to reflect on the new trends that were felt long before the current pandemic, but which accelerated and even exacerbated with the health crisis.
