Ala feels a panic attack coming on. Over the course of a day, she tries all kinds of solutions and mechanisms to delay it, to avoid it. As usual, some work, some don’t.

“Feelings are just visitors” aims to explore artistically, socially and performatively the recent period from the perspective of contemporary mental health and anxiety, with her own experiences as a starting point. The audience is invited into a process of self-reflection, awareness and discovery of tools to help mitigate the effects of anxiety spectrum disorders.

In particular, the show addresses the theme of debilitating anxiety and self-isolation. A character plagued by anxiety is trapped in his own mind and his own home. Suffering from panic attacks, Ala searches for ways to trick his anxiety and hijack it. She goes through the mechanisms discovered and built up over time as if through a survival manual. Searching for levers to avoid her anxieties she finds herself trapped in her own little universe; in her home, the only seemingly controllable part of the world. Her body reacts viscerally, losing contact with the environment, but manages to release and rebalance for brief moments, thus deepening the crisis a little more.
