  • For adults (beginners and intermediate)

Module III 06.05 – 06.06.2026 |

Info

From May through June, dance classes for adults (beginners and intermediate) will continue with Module III. This module is open to both those who have completed the previous modules and those who have not participated before, regardless of age or prior physical training.

The module is led by Andreea Belu, an independent artist from Bucharest who has been active in contemporary dance and the performing arts since 2009.

Module Description Body for Movement. Movement for the Body

What changes within my own body when movement becomes a consistent, creative, and effective process? What kind of movement process do I need to become aware of and rediscover my bodily presence through sensations, to regain motor freedom and postural balance, and to exist in the space I share with others? Can I do this without giving up my own creativity, imagination, autonomy, and intimacy? Does movement alter my proprioception, my interaction with others, and my own ideas about what it means to move?

Questions we’ll answer together over 6 sessions. Together, we’ll also practice kinetic principles from various movement and dance techniques, related to posture, alignment, the relationship with gravity, static and dynamic balance, kinesthesia, and body awareness. We’ll work through improvisation and with pre-set movements. In a safe and gentle environment, where we have the time to try, discover, and question, regardless of our own experience with movement or dance.

General aspects | what you’ll learn in dance classes at CNDB:

  • notions about the body, motricity, the relationship with space, rhythm and energy that you put into each individual and group movement and action;
  • movement exercises found in contemporary dance techniques;
  • ways to express yourself freely, to formulate your own “voice” in movement, through choreographic exercises that use improvisation as a structured method of knowing and learning;
  • improving memory, mobility and muscle tone;
  • learning to analyse in order to “read” and relate more easily to a choreographic construction (moment or performance involving movement).

Additional benefits:

  • access to various information sources on contemporary dance, curated by a teacher
  • for the entire duration of the course, participants will benefit from a 50% discount on CNDB performances of the current season;
  • guided access to the CNDB media library resources (books, documents, periodicals and videos of international dance and performance performances, etc.);

Schedule
Classes for Module III will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on May 6, 13, 20, 27, and June 3, and on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the National Dance Center in Bucharest. The workshop offers a series of six sessions open to everyone, regardless of their experience in contemporary dance.
