Info

“Cosmic Chronicles: Body and Gender Mythology” is an audio-visual performative epic based on interdisciplinary research that explores the historical, social, and cultural roots of gender identity and offers hope for a fluid future.

In the last millennium, on March 3, 1972, and April 5, 1973, the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes were launched into space. The probes carry a plaque with a pictorial message for any potential extraterrestrial beings who might find them. The plaque features two anatomical figures: one male and one female. The male figure raises his right hand in a gesture of greeting. The female figure stands with her arms at her sides. Also in the last millennium, on August 20 and September 5, 1977, the Voyager 2 and 1 probes were launched into space along with a gold record containing sounds and images considered representative of Planet Earth.

Neither of the two programs dedicated to space exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life takes into account the diversity of gender on Earth, relying instead solely on its binary model.

At present, the probes are still traveling through space.
