Contemporary dance workshop: instant composition and play

We will start with a sincere but light-hearted look at the world of instant composition. A world with conventions but without rules. We will use improvisation to make choices, find new listening methods, and create connections. Developing the tools necessary to carry with us in that world and refining our understanding of how we approach ideas. It is done through a playful and open lens, emptying ourselves into exploration and discovery.
We will carry these tools forward to learn some repertoire. Trying to approach choreography with the same openness, sincerity, and light-heartedness.
Workshop organized by CNDB for contemporary dance professionals, with free participation based on registration with CV – form available HERE.

Biography
Paxton Ricketts was born in Denmark and grew up in Canada. She trained at Arts Umbrella Dance from the age of 9 until the age of 19. From 2014 to 2024, Paxton performed with Nederlands Dans Theater.
As a choreographer, she has participated in NDT Dancers’ Switch program for every iteration since 2015. In 2022, she studied choreography with Crystal Pite at The Royal Ballet. In 2023, she participated in the Pioneer Project hosted by Korzo. Most recently, Paxton has choreographed new works for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani (Sweden) Kammerballetten (Denmark), NDT Summer Intensive (The Netherlands), Fabula Collective (UK), Korzo Theater (The Netherlands), Sonder Ensemble (Germany), Arts Umbrella Dance (Canada), HD Theatre (USA) Club Guy & Roni Spring Seminar (The Netherlands), and Thorvaldsens Museum (Denmark). His work has reached the semi-finals of the International Duet Choreography Competition Rotterdam 2022.Free participation on application with CV.
