Info
Fall is here and we are preparing to meet you with a lot of energy. We are excited and eager for November, when the 3rd edition of Iridescent – international festival of contemporary dance and other reconfigurations of the sensitive – will take place, so we propose an early warm-up. We invite you to contaminate yourself as early as September with the special atmosphere of the festival at a double event, proposing two different but complementary energies that underline the myriad colors and discourses of Iridescent. Lighthearted Wednesdays returns and proposes to all those interested in performing on the CNDB stage, and the Totally Spice collective brings Totally Spice Academy participants to the DJ desk.
Casual Wednesday
Entries for the September 18 edition are invited for performance moments. Registrations can be sent to . Public participation in the event is free, but it is necessary to reserve your seat. To register please fill in the form available HERE.
“Casual Wednesday ” involves direct experimentation of ideas using performativity, but without the previous elaboration and repetition of content as in a performance. In “Light Wednesdays”, the participants come with their laboratory of intimate concerns and endeavors which they expose in front of an audience curious to participate in the performative experimentation of free statements and questions, in a setting free from the expectations, constraints and stress of presenting a finished performance. Each of these exhibitions is a premiere in itself, in a concentrate of an active, vulnerable, open present.
At the launch of the project in 2008, Eduard Gabia declared: “A performance that has no past, no future, but only a present – a now. Disappearing as it has appeared, the performance makes only the affirmation of that moment. By affirming something every Wednesday, in time, the affirmations become the affirmations of a week, of months, of a year – the year of light affirmations.”
“Miercurea lejeră” is based on spontaneity and the power of improvisation, which become all the more performative as they are linked to the real moment and time in which the participants choose to expose themselves “without a safety net”, without rehearsals and previous preparations. The presence of the performers and their unmediated present become, in this way, part of the material of each presentation.
“Light Wednesdays – performatively affirmed ideas” is an open platform where anyone can test their ideas on stage, provided they register in advance. Anyone can participate, regardless of age, profession, education or training. The stage thus becomes a democratic space accessible to all, creating the conditions for encounters and dialog without borders, across disciplines, backgrounds and experience.
Over the years, this laboratory of experimentation has helped to coagulate a spirit that has generated numerous projects and inspired the artistic endeavors of many artists from the fields of contemporary dance, visual arts, theater and music, but has also attracted many people in search of free forms of expression to the arts.

About Totally Spice
Since 2023, Totally Spice! is a female DJ duo composed of Lidia Ilici & Renate Dinu who are rapidly consolidating themselves on the Romanian club scene. Gliding between techno, euro-trance, pop gems, broken beats, uk garage, rave anthems, forgotten Romanian r’n’b hits and a hint of reggaeton, they are working on creating a community centered on female presence, inspiring all the local bubbles with their contagious enthusiasm. Their presence in the local scene creates a vibrant environment that inspires and energizes, transcending the boundaries of musical genres, reconfiguring existing power dynamics where cultural systems and networks are still predominantly patriarchal.

The Totally Spice Academy is the first large-scale project of the artists project and aims to implement practical, collaborative solutions to address the underrepresentation of women in the electronic music scene by providing a training and development space and networking platform. The project provides the tools and knowledge to foster a new generation of female artists on the local music scene in Bucharest. The initiative addresses key needs towards gender equality, inclusion and diversity. Running for five months, the project consists of a series of workshops, mentoring and training sessions for 6 female participants selected following a public open call. The collective of artists involved composed of: Suce Fraga, DJ Admina, DJ Admina, Miss I, Chlorys and Ion Dumitrescu, together with Totally Spice, will go through the principles of music production and mixing techniques with the selected participants, resulting in a feminist education workshop, 2 radio shows, 4 public events and collaborative music productions. The project sits at the intersection of history, present and future and joins the long-standing struggle for the inclusion of female perspectives in diverse fields. This observation resonates with the now-criticized trends of historical periods in which women have been systematically excluded from the narratives of art history and key anthologies. The project challenges us to look at the broader context in which this paradigm fits and to reflect on the social influences involved, as a manifestation of the ongoing push for women’s rights and equal opportunities, while emphasizing the interconnectedness of these dynamics with pervasive patriarchal systems.
