Info
“At Ease Among Nerve Endings” is a contemporary dance performance about displacement, belonging, and the search for a “home” through the relationship between the body, territory, and memory.
Four performers explore, through movement, voice, and imagery, how experiences of alienation are inscribed in the body and in its relationship with territory: in tensions, breath, and internal rhythms. The performance investigates the politics of belonging and how certain bodies feel “at home,” while others are perceived or treated as strangers.
By integrating somatic practices such as Body-Mind Centering® into the creative process, the performance views the body as our primary territory and as a space for encountering the other.
A journey between fragility and resilience, between the need to belong and the possibility of finally finding peace in who we are.
The performance emerged from choreographic research conducted during two residencies: at the self-sustaining Plantamor community in Tenerife, Spain, and at the Improvise and Organize residency in Alta Vila Park in Águeda, Portugal. The process is also supported by somatic workshops at social service centers where the choreographer worked alongside a psychotherapist with homeless individuals.
