Info
This summer, the National Center for Dance Bucharest (CNDB) becomes a meeting place where differences such as age, social status, training, knowledge and experience are being suspended, and dance is the binder that aims at bringing very different types of people together. CNDB is launching “Courtyard Dances”, a project in which the yard of CNDB’s location on Mărășești Blvd. will be arranged to host over 40 artists who will propose events that range from contemporary dance and performance to live music, visual arts and poetry.
The Descentrat (*Decentered) team and their guests open a framework for reflection and action, that starts from the premise that offline experiences, in other words, meetings between bodies and direct contact, are increasingly necessary so that dialogue does not remain a virtual accident. Paul Dunca / Paula Dunker, Maria Mora, Cristian Nanculescu and their guests propose the collective construction of a safe realm in the body, imbued with colors and a lot of care.
The Blue Lagoon. Descentrat will open the performative space of the National Center for Dance Bucharest in several forms:
5:00 – 6:30 pm – an audio oasis of infusion and mixture in Samer’s guidance
6:30 – 7:00 pm – a story from the animal kingdom addressed by a guest from the Romanian Ornithological Society
7:00 – 7:45 pm – two new drag & beyond shows (queens to be announced)
7:45 – 8:30 pm – a group singing class with Alina Buzdugan
8:30 – 10:00 pm – a group karaoke session
Please bring with you as many layers that have moved over time with your bodies, that have covered and coloured you and that you no longer need. An exchange of clothes will take place throughout the event.
Guests: Samer, Livia Gyongyosi, Alexander Valentine, Rayne O'Plasty, Alina Buzdugan
Samer (born in Gaza, Palestine) is a DJ from the Bucharest queer scene. Although he was not born under the sign of Gemini, his selections can usually be interpreted as two sides of the same coin. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes manic. Exploring tribal and euphonic areas, the sounds encountered are dramatic, almost childish.
Livia Gyongyosi, member of SOR Bucharest
SORB, as we call it briefly, is a group of people of all ages and professions who have one very important thing in common: a passion for birds. If you go out often in the parks of Bucharest, run or ride a bike on the dam of Lake Morii, you must have seen them at some point. A group of people gathered around a telescope or marching with their eyes on the sky, completely insensitive to the weather or anything else happening around – it was them!
Alexander Valentine
After experimenting in music production and participating in the “Lil ‘Paris is Burning” balls, along with her work in the field of LGBT and HIV activism, Valentine enters the category of lipsync of the love zone, with the intention of exploring forms of response to the male gaze phenomenon and to choreograph the process of self-knowledge as a non-binary queer person.
