Info

The “Convergences: Dance & Film” event, taking place on May 29 and June 4, brings together the National Center for Dance in Bucharest (CNDB) and the Eforie Cinema through a program dedicated to the dialogue between the two arts.

From archival films accompanied live by Karpov not Kasparov to the cinematic portrait of choreographer Miriam Răducanu, the event showcases how movement becomes image, and how the image preserves the traces of dance.

Cine(Dance)Concert Karpov not Kasparov

A selection of archival short films exploring diverse histories of dance within niche areas of Romanian cinema will be presented in a Cine(Dance)Concert accompanied by the band Karpov not Kasparov. We invite you to listen to them live and watch an in-depth look at dance film, presented through archival productions made between 1927 and 1972.

Karpov Not Kasparov is an electronic/synth-pop/new-wave duo from Bucharest, consisting of Valeriu Borcos and Eduard Gabia. One of Romania’s finest synth-pop/dance/electronic exports, Karpov Not Kasparov has performed in recent years at clubs and festivals across Europe.

The film footage comes from the ANF Archive and the CNDB Archive
Film curator: Corina Cimpoieru, CNDB Archive
Admission to the concert is free for students.
