Some movements are learned. Others are corrected.
And there are those moments when the body no longer fully follows instructions.
The double bill in the “Unauthorized Movements” series brings together two works that each, in their own way, explore this zone of deviation—between language and the body, between accumulation and loss of control.
CODE-SWITCH
By Eduard Gabia
Duration: 46 min
The performance explores the relationship between language, movement, and action through a process of translation between incompatible systems. Starting from the structure of a lecture on effective communication, the performer’s body attempts to translate verbal instructions into gestures, postures, and choreographic actions.
Within this process, deviations, errors, and reconfigurations arise, generating a space where meaning is not fixed but continuously negotiated.
“Code switching” is approached not merely as a linguistic shift, but as a cognitive and embodied mechanism—a transition between behavioral registers, between intention and execution, between control and vulnerability.
The body becomes an imperfect translator between systems of knowledge—verbal, kinesthetic, and social—producing a third layer of meaning that does not belong entirely to any of them.

Please read the following verses carefully:
*
Someone is walking toward their loved one’s house
and starts undressing along the way, right on the street.
They arrive.
The beloved opens the door,
While the other person continues
To perform an increasingly frantic striptease.
They peel off their skin,
They strip away their flesh,
They expose their gleaming entrails
And then end up as a pile of bones.
The beloved remains indifferent.
*
Have you ever heard the expression: “work is love in the making”?
*
Replace the beloved with work in the poem above!
*
And now try to sing the lyrics as loud as you can
*
Don’t be afraid!
No one can hear you!
