The beach can also be a terminal. In TERMINAL BEACH, six dancers create the image of our speechlessness in the face of the times to come.
In an inscrutable, opaque, pitch-black world, they cling to the familiar: flexing their muscles like uninhibited cowboys. They wave their flags like revolutionaries. They lose themselves in armored duels, grimace with frozen glee and glide through space on roller skates. And when the devil makes his appearance, they stay calm, get close to each other and dance in formation in the parlor.
TERMINAL BEACH is a choreographic, visual and musical collage of time periods, genres, styles and techniques. Monty Python paints Breugel, Futurism embraces the Middle Ages, and Verdi presents Johnny Cash. Moritz Ostruschnjak’s creative principle ̶ Copy&Paste, Cut&Mix ̶ allows the emergence of a narrative about our reality from the most heterogeneous elements and connections: do we see the horizon (the end of the tunnel) or are we looking for the exit in the opposite direction…

Biography
Coming from the sprayer scene, Moritz Ostruschnjak developed his interest in contemporary dance through breakdancing. He studied from 2001 to 2003 at Iwanson International in Munich and completed his training with Maurice Béjart in Lausanne. This was followed by engagements as a dancer at home and abroad. He has been working as a freelance choreographer in Munich since 2013 and has created a total of teen productions of his own, most recently “CRY WHY”, a duet for two dancers, two pianos, two inline skates and a pianist in 2024. His pieces have been shown at numerous European festivals and have been selected three times for the TANZPLATTFORM DEUTSCHLAND. In addition to his own productions, he also creates commissioned works, including “TRAILER PARK” for the tanzmainz ensemble in 2023. Moritz Ostruschnjak is one of the Aerowaves Twenty21 Artists, was awarded the City of Munich’s Förderpreis Tanz and is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and Tanztendenz München e.V.
