Info

Every year, in the frame of the BIDFF Expand section, Bucharest International Dance Film Festival invites renowned dance filmmakers to Bucharest to teach intensive workshops for Romanian artists.

In 2022, we have invited Omari ‘Motion’ Carter, the founder of the award-winning screendance production company The Motion Dance Collective, to coordinate the Screendace Lab at The National Centre for Dance in Bucharest between the 8th and 11th of September. Moreover, the British artist is also part of the festival jury this year.

About the lab
Within this workshop, participants will gain an insight into the production process of a screendance work and explore exercises that develop a practice that bridges the gap between moving body and moving image.
From mediation to idea, we will look at the choreography in front of the camera, the choreography of the camera, and the choreography developed in the edit, as participants aim to create short digital-dance experiments throughout the three days. Together we will gain practical experience with tools that inject an essence of hybridity into our own ongoing practices.
