Info

From September through October, dance classes for adults (beginners and intermediate) will continue with Module IV. This module is open to both those who have completed the previous modules and those who have not participated before, regardless of age or prior physical fitness.

The module is led by George-Alexandru Pleșca, a performer and choreographer who is active in Bucharest, throughout the country, and abroad. He has been part of the independent cultural scene since 2016.

Description of the contemporary dance workshop – “Enter the Flux”

The main goal of the classes is to foster body awareness and, by extension, an awareness of movement in space through cognitive and intuitive processes. By combining various techniques, methods, and exercises from fields such as martial arts, theater, capoeira, urban dance, and contemporary dance, we will strive to understand and use our bodies in as many ways as possible to access a “state of flow.” By “flow,” I mean the state in which an individual processes, assimilates, and transforms information—whether external or internal—at an accelerated rate, enabling the body to become effective and adaptable in any situation.

Some of the key focuses of the classes include: improvisation, rhythm and coordination, developing the ability to make associations and describe movements, integrating the voice into movement, floorwork, acrobatics, and the rapid memorization and processing of choreographic material.

Furthermore, the training focuses on the individual’s development as a performer, offering opportunities for exploration through exercises that address the relationship between space, time, and partner, stage presence, theatricality, and the concept of play.

General aspects | what you’ll learn in dance classes at CNDB:

  • notions about the body, motricity, the relationship with space, rhythm and energy that you put into each individual and group movement and action;
  • movement exercises found in contemporary dance techniques;
  • ways to express yourself freely, to formulate your own “voice” in movement, through choreographic exercises that use improvisation as a structured method of knowing and learning;
  • improving memory, mobility and muscle tone;
  • learning to analyse in order to “read” and relate more easily to a choreographic construction (moment or performance involving movement).

Additional benefits:

  • access to various information sources on contemporary dance, curated by a teacher
  • for the entire duration of the course, participants will benefit from a 50% discount on CNDB performances of the current season;
  • guided access to the CNDB media library resources (books, documents, periodicals and videos of international dance and performance performances, etc.);

Schedule
Classes for Module IV are held every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., from September 17 to October 22, 2026.
