Info

From March through April, dance classes for adults (beginners and intermediate) will continue with Module II.

This module is open to both those who have completed the previous modules and those who have not, regardless of age or prior physical training.

The second module is led by Alexandra Mihaela Dancs, an independent artist based in Bucharest who has been active in contemporary dance and the performing arts since 2004.

Module description

Intuitive or consciously directed, the body in motion reveals itself directly and projects personal or collective realities or intensities. At the same time, it becomes a way of being in the world or a means of reflecting on the world. The workshop I propose starts from this premise and is built around the idea of the body as an open space to be explored, a space capable of surprising and surprising us. We will use dance to discover what is deeply personal, unique, and unrepeatable in our way of being in motion. We will work with open or guided proposals, solo or in groups. We will talk, watch, participate, resonate, amplify. Likewise, we will look for movements that do not belong to us, that we produce together or that exist between us. We will explore the expressive possibilities that arise at the intersection of different understandings and approaches to the body and movement.

General aspects | what you’ll learn in dance classes at CNDB:

  • notions about the body, motricity, the relationship with space, rhythm and energy that you put into each individual and group movement and action;
  • movement exercises found in contemporary dance techniques;
  • ways to express yourself freely, to formulate your own “voice” in movement, through choreographic exercises that use improvisation as a structured method of knowing and learning;
  • improving memory, mobility and muscle tone;
  • learning to analyse in order to “read” and relate more easily to a choreographic construction (moment or performance involving movement).

Additional benefits:

  • access to various information sources on contemporary dance, curated by a teacher
  • for the entire duration of the course, participants will benefit from a 50% discount on CNDB performances of the current season;
  • guided access to the CNDB media library resources (books, documents, periodicals and videos of international dance and performance performances, etc.);

Schedule
Classes for Module II will be held every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., from March 17 to April 21, 2026, at the National Dance Center in Bucharest. The workshop consists of a series of six sessions open to everyone, regardless of their experience in contemporary dance.

Registration & Participation Fee
The subscription for the 6 sessions is available exclusively online; proof of payment must be emailed to [email protected] by March 16, 2026.
