Info
Desynchronosis A.K.A. Jet Lag*
When you travel across several time zones within a short period of time, your body falls behind.
When you are born, your family’s stories remain behind.
When someone new enters your life, you find yourself looking back almost compulsively.
How do you catch up? How do you bring your experiences and your body into the present when emotional time and physical time are no longer one and the same?
Through a blend of letters, storytelling, and dance, Desynchronosis invites you to explore your need for synchronicity with your own experiences and ideas.
*Desynchronosis, commonly known as “jet lag,” is a temporary physiological condition that occurs when a person’s circadian rhythm is out of sync with the time zone they are in. It is typically the result of travelling rapidly across multiple time zones. Symptoms may vary depending on the number of time zones crossed, the duration and time of day of the journey, as well as individual differences. Sleep is disrupted, either through insomnia (when travelling east), waking very early (when travelling west), or frequent awakenings during the same sleep cycle (in both cases). General effects may include reduced performance in mental tasks and concentration, dizziness, nausea, confusion, anxiety, increased fatigue, headaches, irritability, and reduced appetite.

Threshold
Threshold is a choreographic work that questions the ways in which we relate to ourselves and others in a world full of stimuli that constantly capture our attention. The piece explores the possibility of observing ourselves even in the midst of overstimulation, stepping back from the reactions and narratives that arise within us. Can the most intense or tense moments become thresholds toward transformation and presence? In this process, the piece also explores how “me” can become “we,” without the individuality of each body disappearing.
Through instant composition and insertions of set choreography, three performers explore the possibility of creating a space of resonance with the self and with others. The suspension of visual cues, heightened awareness, and the unpredictable nature of improvisation allow decisions to emerge in real time, arising from the relationship with the other bodies, the audience, and the transformations occurring in the space. Light, temperature, contact with the others, and the soundscape become stimuli that constantly influence the direction of movement.
Oscillating between stillness and movement, Threshold explores the body’s need to integrate what it receives, as well as the impulse to push beyond its own limits. Can a body bombarded by multiple stimuli remain lucid, receptive, and present?

Biographies
Cristina Tudor works in the performing arts as an actress, playwright, and performer. Her collaborations include productions at Shakespeare’s Globe and The Arcola in London, KIA Productions and Ensemble Theatre in Vancouver, as well as with Beznă Theatre, Delazero, Hearth Association, Cultură’n Șură, Adepth Infusion, Cuibul Artiștilor, and film production company GoldenBoi Screendance.
She is the founder of Cătun Association, which invites its audiences into a space of introspection, empathy, and connection. In recent years, she has focused on artistic projects and collaborations aimed at young people and families in small and medium-sized communities across Romania, as well as in the diaspora. For Cristina, the performing arts are a space where people are welcome to share experiences, discover common ground across the deepest differences, celebrate, and find inspiration.
Iulia Cristina Andro is an independent artist and performer. Her experience has been shaped primarily through her work as a performer in various performative and academic contexts, and she is currently developing her own choreographic practice.
In her practice, she is interested in the encounter between instant composition and predetermined choreography, as well as in the body as it continuously changes and adapts to different stimuli. Her research explores the ways in which corporeality is shaped by the experiences we go through and by the information we consume on a daily basis.
She is equally drawn to science and spiritual practices, with a particular interest in Eckhart Tolle’s perspective on presence and observation. These interests naturally intersect in her practice, providing points of departure for exploring the body, attention, and the ways in which we relate to what we experience throughout our lives.
