The Academy of Dance and Performance Laboratories invite you to the open house event as part of the Co-Teaching workshop, an opportunity to get an inside look at the working process and collaborative atmosphere that define it. You’ll be able to see excerpts from the participants’ research in an open setting where ideas, movement, and dialogue come together. It’s the perfect time to see how a space for collective learning is built, step by step. We look forward to seeing you!
For one week, four instructors—Gisela Müller, Rok Vevar, Gregor Kamnikar, and Dejan Srhoj—will guide the Academy’s exploration of various procedural aspects of dance creation (composition, construction, performance, and expression), with a focus on diverse approaches rooted in postmodern dance from the 1960s. The workshop emphasizes the equal use of various choreographic tools. Sessions will include practical, theoretical, and historical components, alongside lectures, assignments, discussions, and practical exercises. Audiovisual materials will also be provided for viewing and discussion.
Co-teaching is an educational format in which educators jointly lead the same dance class or workshop. The name of the format itself suggests a coming together of ideas, teaching methods, and perspectives on contemporary dance. The workshop opens up the educational process by fostering a safe environment for teaching and learning where the transfer of knowledge—as well as both dance practice and theory—takes place in a welcoming and inclusive manner. Both dance educators and theorists co-teach to support this integration. This requires participants to remain open to new proposals, to the possibility of making mistakes, and to the exchange of knowledge.
The format was developed by members of the Noman Dance Academy network starting in 2012 and has been implemented in Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, the Netherlands, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Italy.

Biographies
Gisela Müller studied contemporary dance in Paris, Amsterdam (SNDO), and New York. She was a member of several dance companies and founded The Move Company in 1992. Since 2004, she has served as artistic and pedagogical director of the Tanzfabrik Berlin Schule and was a member of its board of directors from 2004 to 2024. From 2006 to 2010, she was a visiting professor responsible for developing and managing the bachelor’s program at HZT/Berlin. Since 2012, she has been an active member of the Eastern European network Nomad Dance Academy. Since 2017, she has been collaborating with the musicians Gebrüder Teichmann, with whom she was Artist in Residence in 2021–2022 as part of the EU project Life Long Burning.
Rok Vevar is a dance historian, archivist, curator, and writer who lives in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he founded The Slovenian Temporary Dance Archives in 2012. He is a member of the Nomad Dance Academy—a contemporary dance network in the Balkans—and a member of the Nomad Dance Academy in Slovenia. He is also co-curator of CoFestival, an international contemporary dance festival, and an activist and advocate for the dance community in Ljubljana.
He is the editor of the book Day, Night + Man = Rhythm: An Anthology of Contemporary Slovene Journalism 1918–1960 (2018), for which he selected materials and edited various texts, and is the author of the book Ksenija, Xenia: The London Dance Years of Ksenija Hribar 1960–1978 (2020). In 2019, she received the Ksenija Hribar Award, and in 2020 she was awarded the Vladimir Kralj Award for her achievements in theater criticism and theater studies (2018–2019).
Gregor Kamnikar / DISCOllective explores, in an artistic and playful way, the many possibilities of dance, choreography, improvisation, and practice through the roles of dancer, choreographer, performer, clown, teacher, writer, producer, citizen, and many others. The results of this artistic research are shared in formats such as improvisation, practice, performance, dance, play, events, choreography, installations, lectures, workshops, courses, publications, (clown) performances, and video, among others.
Dejan Srhoj is a dancer developing a long-term project titled Composing Differences, through which he explores community-based choreographic principles via improvisation, the sharing of practices, and education. The project includes “Mapping the City,” in which Dejan invites people to observe their city through a choreographed performance, and “Evening of Dance Solos,” in which he invites choreographers and musicians to create short solos for him, which are then woven into a complete performance. Dejan is a co-founder of the Nomad Dance Academy network, CoFestival (an international contemporary dance festival), and Fičo Balet. Dejan is currently completing his master’s degree in New Performance Practices at SKH in Stockholm.
