To what extent is the laboratory – a research space necessary for constant experimentation – a priority for artists/performers, vocational faculties and performing arts institutions? Is the creative laboratory a sustainable model? Do we need labs in which to imagine possible worlds less centred on the rules of immediate production? Do we have time for laboratory creation? Does what we see on stage create a frame of thinking that reflects how we produce a performance?
