  • Audio-video performative installation
  • Mixing workshop
  • Free entrance

120 min.

Info

The concept behind the installation is the fairy tale as a factor of cohesion between generations. The artistic team will create a fairy-tale experience through vintage (vinyl plates played with pick-up and live narration) and contemporary (sound processing software, video projections, light design) means. A unique aspect of this project is the combination of stories recorded on vinyl plates with electronic music genres such as boom bap/beats instrumental/lo-fi/downtempo/trip hop/ethnic electronic/world music, thus outlining a dialogue between different time periods and generations of people. The duration of the performative audio-video installation is approx. one hour.

”Meet the artists/Sharing practices” workshop -sound mixing

Each performance of the installation is followed by a mixing workshop led by George Allen. He will provide some introductory knowledge of sound mixing, explaining the process of working on the installation and offering basic sound processing and harmonising techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to use the equipment used in the installation under George Allen’s supervision. The duration of a workshop is 1h.

Biography

George Allen (Jurj M. Alin) sees the light of day on 7 April
1983, Timișoara. He fell irrevocably and unconditionally in love with electronic music as a child when he found a cassette in the park. In 2005 he received an offer to host an electronic music show on a local FM radio station and thus began playing music weekly and promoting more underground music producers on FM until 2009 when the station changed its line-up. It wasn’t until March 2010 that he was invited to play music in a club for the first time and since then he continues to be invited to various parties/festivals/cultural events in different venues in TM and around the country (Electric Castle & Untold). To this day, George Allen contributes music to the nicecream.fm radio playlist and loves to entertain with a fusion of Nu Disco, French & UK House,
Re-edits, Balearic, Chicago & Detroit House, Italo, Instrumental Beats,
Boom bap, Vaporwave, Future Funk, Retro Electro, Dub techno, Broken beat,
Breakbeat, Future garage, UK Bass and Electronica. He is also co-founder of the music project CellestiAns.

The project is part of the National Cultural Programme “Timisoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023” and is funded by the Inside Timisoara 2023 programme, run by the Timisoara Project Centre, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
