The festival at National Center for Dance Bucharest will start Tuesday, October 8, with the “Thriller” performance, the authors – Paweł Sakowicz și Anna Smolar – showing, in a very dynamic and appealing manner, a day of life, from our body’s perspective
Paweł Sakowicz, whom the viewers will see on stage alongside Sonia Roszczuk, is one of the most appreciated contemporary dancers and choreographers from Poland. In 2016, he was nominated for the prestigious Polish prize „Paszport Polityki” (inspired by the name of the social-political weekly journal “Polityka”) for “scenic charisma full of irony and humour”.
Anna Smolar, theater director, received during the same year, 2016, „Paszport Polityki”. She is known as one of the most talented artists of the young generation. She worked together with famous directors, like Krystian Lupa, Jacques Lassalle or Andrzej Seweryn.
The performance is part of the 4th edition of the “News from Polska” Festival, which will take place during October 8 and October 13, 2019. Organized every other year, this year’s edition of the festival is called “The Choreographic Theories”. The representations and performances chosen for the “News from Polska” program are a selection of the most recent accomplishments of young Polish artists. Viewers will find among them examples of modern art, which do not deny their origins and bring homage to their masters.
