Info
The most interesting performers from Poland will be coming on the stage of National Dance Center Bucharest ( National Center for Dance Bucharest) for the 4th edition of the “News from Polska” Festival, which will take place between October 9 and October 13, 2019.
Taking place every other year, this year’s edition of the festival is called “The Choreographic Theories”. The representations and performances chosen for the “News from Polska” program are a selection of the most recent accomplishments of young Polish artists. Viewers will find among them examples of modern art, which do not deny their origins and bring homage to their masters.
During the “News from Polka” Festival you will be able to see seven performances, ranging from some with a rich text to visual-only representation – says Agnieszka Skieterska, director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, the founder of the festival. The highlight of this year’s edition will be “The Second Nature” show, inspired by the personality of Pola Nireńska, remarkable avant-garde Polish dancer from the interwar periods and artist of Hebrew origin who survived the Holocaust and, after the was, led the United States dance school, where she tragically died. Nireńska also was the wife of Jan Karski, one of the Second World War heroes, the man who, being a courier of the Polish emigration authorities, was the first to inform the leaders from the West, including the US president, about the Holocaust. “The Second Nature” invites the viewer to reflect upon the contemporary Extermination in a completely surprising way – adds Agnieszka Skieterska.
